Description
Volume II--1860-1905
In this second volume we see the birth of the China Inland Mission in 1865 as Taylor walked the sands of Brighton Beach, praying for "24 willing skillful workers" to reach China's interior provinces. The story continuous with the development of the mission to nearly 1,000 and its spread to Europe, Australia and North America.
Throughout this period, God was working in Taylor's life to equip him for the new responsibility and give him that humble power that was to characterize him until his death in 1905. What makes such a man of God? Was Taylor unique?
in 1888 Hudson Taylor visited North America at the request of D.L.Moody. Within a few weeks, fourteen young people responded to God's call and were prepared to go to China. They were the first of a kind. With no promise of financial support from church or denomination, they went depending on God alone. This event marked the beginning of the faith missions movement in North America.
To celebrate the centennial of this historic occasion the mission founded by James Hudson Taylor, now called the Overseas Missionary Fellowship, offers this account of his life and work. It is more than the story of man and mission. It is the story of a faithful God who takes one obedient man and uses him in His way for His glory.
